Matt's Outback Paintball is one of the top outdoor paintball fields in New England — rated among the best paintball experiences in Connecticut. Located in Coventry, CT, we offer woods and speedball, flexible game modes, and full rental kits for first-timers, families, and players who already know what "Hit!" means.
Before opening to the public, owner Tom started playing paintball in his backyard with his son Matt and a small group of friends. Word spread across the state, the group grew, and what began as backyard games evolved into a full-featured, regulated public paintball field — shaped by the players who showed up weekend after weekend.
Today, Matt's Outback is still player-driven: safe, welcoming, and ready for every age, every squad, and every skill level. Masks on. Hopper full. See you on the field.

Straight answers for first-timers and groups heading to our Coventry, CT paintball field.
It stings less than a golf ball and more than a Nerf dart — most players say it fades in a few minutes. You'll get "cleaned" (lit up) sometimes; that's part of the game. Body armor is included with rental packages; long sleeves and pants help a lot.
Clothes you don't mind getting painted — long pants and long sleeves are best. Dress for Connecticut weather; our fields are outdoors. Dark colors hide paint better; white shirts tell the whole story of the day.
Just you. Rental packages include a marker, mask, body armor, pods, paint, and a day pass. Already own gear? Walk-on is $15/day plus paint (and any rentals you still need).
Rental packages run $50–$100 with everything you need. Walk-ons with their own kit usually spend less. Most first-timers budget $50–$70 for a full day of gear and paint.
Open play is Saturdays and Sundays, 10am–4pm — just show up. Monday through Friday is by reservation for private groups, birthdays, and corporate days.
No — field paint only. Classic rule: only paint bought at Matt's Outback is allowed. Outside paint gets confiscated and can get you sent home.
Yell "Hit!" loud enough that people stop shooting. Raise your marker and arms, then walk off the field. No wiping, no dead-man's walk drama — call it clean and re-queue for the next game. Refs keep it safe and fair.
Yes — every player. Waivers are signed on site (you can review a copy online first). Masks on before you step on the field.
